R. Owen Ainsworth

Owen Ainsworth is proud to have been on a journey that led him to the practice of family law. Owen graduated from the University of Chicago receiving his B.A. in 2000. While pursuing his undergraduate degree, Owen worked for a Will County agency the helped disabled individuals. It was in this position where Owen realized the importance of the law supporting all members of society equally. Owen found that he greatly enjoyed and felt deeply fulfilled helping individuals and families in need. After graduating with his B.A., Owen worked in the science field but ultimately desired a more direct connection with people. He knew a law degree would give him that deeper connection and empower him in his efforts to help others. Owen went after his dream with the support of his loving wife. He received his Juris Doctorate from the Northern Illinois University College of Law in 2007 and was admitted to the Bar in 2007.

Owen had an active career as a law student. While still in school, he volunteered and practiced as a 711 licensee at Prairie State Legal Services where he gained valuable expertise in counseling clients, negotiating settlement of custody disputes, drafting and defending orders of protection, and representing clients in court. Additionally, Owen clerked for a general practice law firm while in school, and he became an associate attorney at that firm from 2007 to 2011 upon passing the Bar.

Owen gained valuable experience in several important areas of law, but he always found himself drawn to family law cases. Owen thrived in the practice of family law by using his abundant knowledge of the law combined with the emotional intelligence not all attorneys are fortunate enough to possess. Owen knew he wanted to work for a law firm dedicated solely to family law. Impressed with Owen's passion and dedication, Wakenight & Associates, P.C. welcomed Mr. Ainsworth as an associate attorney in 2011. Owen takes pride in his compassion for others and his sensitivity to delicate matters. Owen is most passionate about the needs of the children involved in family legal disputes, and he will always fight to do what is in their best interest and to remove them from conflict. He is determined to advocate aggressively for his clients and maintains open, honest, and communicative relationships. He works hard to resolve his clients' issues and reach their goals with diligence, dignity, and respect for all parties involved.
