Colleen M. Hurley

Senior Associate

Location: Oak Park

In 2011 Colleen M. Hurley graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

From there it was off to law school at DePaul University College of Law, knowing from the start that family law was her passion. In her first year of law school, she became a Family Law Fellow, was a member of DePaul's Child and Family Law Student Advisory Board and she volunteered at the Cook County Domestic Violence Courthouse, representing low income victims of domestic violence. She also became an editor of DePaul's Journal of Women, Gender & the Law, as well as the Vice Justice of the law fraternity, Phi Alpha Delta. In her second year of law school, Colleen competed nationally in Washington, D.C. on the Phi Alpha Delta mock trial team. In her third year of law school, she earned her 711 license and represented low income family law clients through DePaul's Family Law Clinic. She further developed her courtroom skills by working for the DuPage County Public Defender's Office where, as a 711 licensee, she appeared in court regularly. All the while Colleen's interest in and love for family law never wavered and in 2014 she graduated from DePaul University College of Law with a certificate in Family Law, awarded to law students who concentrate their elective curriculum in family law studies.

After starting her family law career with a small family law firm in Chicago, in 2015 Colleen found her home at the Divorce and Family Law Offices of Wakenight & Associates, P.C. in Oak Park. It is here that she represents her family law clients all day every day without the distractions found at smaller law firms.
